Vicky Piper Vicky’s bright smile, confidence, determination and calling to minister to children and families are gifts from the Lord. Those gifts emerged because her mother determined her children would be in church every time the doors were open. Vicky recalls, “The people in this church didn’t set children aside and tell them to be quiet and good… Rather, they saw their unique gifts and gave them a platform to use them. Their recognition that children have God’s hand on them directly influenced Vicky’s life in a profound way. At age 8, Vicky attended Church Camp and received Jesus Christ as Savior, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and also knew the Lord was calling her into ministry! At age 18, Vicky pursued God’s calling on her life and attended Christian Life College, in Mt. Prospect IL, attaining her BA in Christian Education. She then received her Masters at Cincinnati Christian University. Shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Jeff Piper and also became the Christian Education Minister. She served fulltime in that capacity for 13 rewarding and fulfilling years. During this time Vicky and Jeff, who is an instructor at Warren County Career Center were blessed with their two beautiful children, Caitlyn 10 and Cameron 9. Three years ago, Vicky experiencing “burn-out,” felt led to resign her beloved position. While in these “sabbatical years,” Vicky obtained her Real Estate License and became a successful Realtor. The Pipers began attending Hope Church in 2008. During this time, Vicky began to recognize her calling to minister to children was renewed and refreshed. The door swung open at Hope at nearly the same time, and thus, she became Hope’s Family Pastor. She observes, “I knew I would eventually return to the calling on my life, but didn’t realize it would be this soon . . . but then God loves to surprise us, and we are thrilled to be a part of God’s work at Hope!.” Vicky is a “mover and shaker” who not only knows how to get a job done, but creates that same energy and excitement in those who partner with her in ministry and those she leads. Her love and passion for families and children to be educated in the Word, and recognize their unique giftedness is apparent to all. Vicky declares: Our kids are not the “church of tomorrow,” they are the church of today!” |
